The Oak Ridges Moraine can be viewed at numerous points along Highway 9, 18, and 45.
This hilly
strip of glacial sediment extends westward from Trenton to Orangeville.
The moraine formed between the Simcoe and Ontario glacial lobes and
contains thick channel fills of sand and gravel that comprise a large
groundwater
aquifer within and between till aquitards. It also stores and discharges clean
cool water that is vital to aquatic life in the area.
